AI-Native Engineering

AI-native engineering for software teams: ship faster, without lowering the bar.

We set up the AI framework your engineering team works in: proven patterns, guardrails and best practices, so AI does the execution and your people keep the judgment. Built on what we run in our own delivery, and measured on every team we set up.

What it delivers

Measured on a live product, not in a demo

On our reference engagement, a software organisation with a 36-service platform, the share of delivered work executed by AI went from under half to four in five within a quarter, with every change still reviewed by a person. The team's throughput roughly doubled, and no production defect was traced to AI-written code in the measured quarter.

Figures from one client engagement, described in the case study. Your numbers depend on your codebase, team and starting point; we baseline them before we change anything.

  • 2× delivery throughput, measured per team per quarter
  • 46% → 81% of delivered tasks executed by AI in one quarter
  • No production defect traced to AI-written code in the measured quarter
  • 100% of changes reviewed by a person before merge

Why it matters

Faster, safer, and more time on the work that matters

AI coding tools on their own make individuals faster and codebases messier. The value is in the framework around them: the patterns, checks and gates that turn speed into results the business can rely on.

Faster time to market

A ticket becomes a reviewed, tested change with no manual steps in between. Features ship in days, and a backlog stops being a queue.

Fewer issues

Every change is checked against your standards, architecture and tests before a person sees it, so defects are caught before they are merged, not after they are shipped.

Focus on the business

Engineers spend their time on design, requirements and customers, not on boilerplate, grooming and triage.

Nothing gets worse

Code quality, technical debt and maintainability are measured on every merge, so AI speed never comes at the cost of the codebase.

The human gate stays

A person reviews and approves every change. Protected branches and full traceability from requirement to release satisfy auditors and security reviews.

Your team, upskilled

Engineers become the reviewers and designers of the work rather than its typists. The practices stay with your team after we leave.

How we work

Assess, set up, scale

We start with the measurement, because a transformation nobody can measure is a story. Everything we set up is proven on one team first, then rolled out on the playbook that worked.

  1. Step 1

    Assess

A readiness review of your codebase, delivery process and documentation, with a baseline of today's speed and quality.

  2. Step 2

    Set up

The AI framework installed on one flagship team: patterns, guardrails, review gates and the checks that keep standards enforced.

  3. Step 3

    Prove

The team delivers real tickets through the new pipeline; the before-and-after numbers decide what happens next.

  4. Step 4

    Scale

The proven playbook rolled out to the next teams, with your people trained to run and extend it themselves.

Hard questions, straight answers

Does AI hurt code quality?
Not when the framework is set up properly. Every change is checked against your coding standards, architecture rules and tests before a person reviews it, regardless of whether a human or an AI wrote it. Standards stop being a document people are meant to remember and become a gate that nothing passes without meeting.
How do you control technical debt?
Debt enters a codebase through merges, so that is where we check for it: convention fit, duplication, complexity and architecture fit are assessed on every change. Refactoring is treated as a first-class task for AI, not something that waits for a quiet week that never comes.
How do you monitor maintainability?
With independent measures that predate AI: cyclomatic and cognitive complexity, duplication, maintainability index, test coverage and churn. They are tracked per merge, so a trend in the wrong direction is visible within days rather than at the next rewrite.
Will our engineers be replaced?
No. Their work changes: less execution, more design, review and judgment. Every change still needs a person to approve it, and the people who know the product are the ones best placed to do that. We train your team to run and extend the framework so it remains theirs.
Does this work with our security and audit requirements?
It is designed for them. Protected branches, explicit approvals, read-only investigation by default and full traceability from requirement to release are part of the setup, not an add-on. The same framework has been through a government client's security review.

Is it a fit?

Right for you if

  • Your engineers already use AI tools, and nobody can say what it has done for delivery
  • The backlog grows faster than the team can ship it
  • You want AI speed without an argument with your auditors, security team or customers
  • You run a product that has to keep working while it changes
